About Us

Le Wagon is the #1 coding bootcamp in the world. We empower individuals, companies and institutions to get the tech skills they need for the modern economy. Unlike other tech schools, Le Wagon is very entrepreneurial. We are all about building products and solving real problems with technology. You can learn more about us here.

About you

We’re looking for a candidate who knows web development and is passionate about mentoring others and helping them grow. Bonus points if you already have experience in education or mentoring. We understand that you will not know everything about everything we teach and how we teach it, and you might not be fully familiar with our stack. If you know web development already, and you are willing to learn our stack and can do so quickly, you can be a good fit.

What's our tech stack? During our web development bootcamp, we cover:

  • Ruby
  • JavaScript
  • SQL
  • Sinatra
  • Ruby on Rails
  • Turbolinks and Stimulus.js

If you know these technologies already, that's great - If you don't, but you have solid web development skills and you would be willing to pick these up, this could also be an opportunity for you.

Degrees are great, but we care the most is

  • Can you coach others through problem solving? Can you nudge others to see through problems without telling them what to do?
  • Are you patient and empathetic?
  • Can you explain abstract software engineering concepts in simple ways for people who do not have a technical background?

One of our main differentiators is our product mindset. We love building things and solving problems with technology. If you get excited about building products, helping others conceptualize apps and services, and know some UX, UI or Agile product development, you will enjoy teaching in our bootcamp.

Our organization spans between Bali and Singapore, but we like to keep things flat and decentralized. Independent, self-directed individuals who do not mind jumping out of their role every once in a while thrive at Le Wagon.

Whenever you are not teaching, you are welcome to do your work from anywhere: home office, coworking space, coffeeshop. This requires you to be comfortable with written communication and asynchronous working. The bulk of our internal work is written, from class reports to discussions about how to improve the learning experience.

HOW TO APPLY

Please send us an application with a note that speaks about your motivation to take to this position. There are no perfect answers. We are a small, down-to-earth team, there's no need for corporate language wit. Talk about how you could add value to Le Wagon, and how Le Wagon could add value to you. Give us your honest opinion on the the work we do. But please keep it sharp, concise, and get across what matters to you.

We expect to take about one week to review applications. When you hear from us, we'll appoint a panel interview where we will ask about your experience, your technical expertise and more importantly, your ability to convey it in simple terms for the laymen. You’ll probably be asked to submit a short live coding session or speak at one of our workshops. We aim to send you an offer as soon as possible and give constructive feedback to candidates who make it to the end of the process.

We know this is quite a bit of work and . It’s a significant career move to consider. We appreciate the generosity and courage that go into giving us that consideration. Our conversation starts with this post. We look forward to hearing from you.
